Ericsson and EE power Green Planet AR Experience

January 12, 2022, London: Ericsson was today named EE Network Partner for The Green Planet AR Experience, powered by EE 5G.

Using augmented reality, The Green Planet AR Experience – inspired by The Natural History Unit’s flagship series, The Green Planet – will take guests on an immersive journey into the secret plant kingdom.

A private 5G network and edge computing infrastructure will be deployed to render stunning real-time AR graphics to event enthusiasts in central London. Visitors will travel through six digitally enhanced worlds – including rainforests, freshwater and saltwater worlds, changing seasons and desert landscapes, culminating in human history and how we can all affect a change positive. Thanks to the magic of augmented reality and 5G technology, visitors will experience the world of plants on their time scale and from their point of view via a Samsung Galaxy S21 smartphone.

The experience will be open to the public at 55 Regent Street on February 11, 2022 and will showcase the low latency, high reliability and high bandwidth capabilities of standalone 5G in the UK, putting the next generation of mobile technology between in the hands of consumers and bringing a truly high-quality end-user mobile experience.
