Moncler’s Spring / Summer 2022 collection expertly merged the worlds of digital activation with utilitarian-inspired outerwear through a multi-faceted approach to traditional fashion presentations. Coinciding with digital experiences in major cities – Tokyo, Shanghai, New York and Seoul – singer Alicia Keys hosted the main event live at Milan Fashion Week.

Always seeking to engage exciting communities and creatives, Moncler once again appealed to an impressive list of names on its ‘Genius’ list for the spring / summer collection – JW Anderson, Veronica Leoni, Sergio Zambon, Sandro Mandrino, Craig Green, Alyx 9SM and Hiroshi Fujiwara.

Switching between the aforementioned five cities, the presentation spotlighted creators and pop culture icons who fully embody the active DNA of the Moncler stratosphere. Not only by activating several key figures across the globe, the label also garnered feedback from members of the public via live broadcasts on various social media platforms like Instagram and Youtube.

The first display of the nearly hour-long presentation was an enigmatic short film directed by Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagnino and with ready-to-wear designed by JW Anderson. Presented in the picturesque streets of Milan, airy pieces, vibrant patterns and the brand’s signature puffer jackets.

Next, viewers were transported to Shanghai, China, and were greeted by architect Qi Shanshan who recited a monologue as must-see pieces were presented throughout the city. Moncler then made a stop in New York where musical artist Solange Knowles helped Rome-based designer Veronica Leoni flaunt her emphatic line of womenswear. Inspired by Josephine Baker and Luisa Casati, dynamic pants and all-black pieces were worn by Solange and her talented group of performers.

As industry insiders debate the relevance of the traditional runway format in an increasingly virtual world, Moncler appeared to flout all notions of status quo fashion presentation with its Spring / Summer 2022 collection. An experimental film and fashion show, the brand expressed its talent for harnessing emerging talent and pushing the boundaries of the industry.

With a roster of star talent that seems to grow with each season, Moncler taps into the zeitgeist that has undoubtedly become important over the past year – friendliness through collaboration.
