The Texas Cavaliers select the Honorary Grand Marshal of the Fiesta 2022 River Parade

Country singer Randy Rogers has been selected as the 2022 Honorary Grand Marshal of the 2022 Texas Cavaliers River Parade.

The organization also announced Thursday that Texas Al Fresco, or “Texas Outdoors,” will be the theme of the April 4 parade, acknowledging how many have spent more time in nature amid the pandemic.

The medal’s design features cacti, blue hats, bushels of fruit, and the silhouettes of two backpackers walking along a trail, among other designs.

“San Antonio has done a great job of having outdoor experiences, just to stay sane and everything and keep the relationships going,” Peavy said. “People have rediscovered all that San Antonio has to offer. They rediscovered Texas and the outdoors… It was kind of a way of facing challenges. So why not celebrate?

Haven for Hope, a local nonprofit, which serves the homeless population, is the 2022 winner for its work with children. Between 175 and 300 years old, from infants to teens, live at all times on the Haven for Hope campus, according to Interim President and CEO Molly Biglari.

Therefore, the organization’s mission aligns well with that of the Cavaliers, said River Parade Marshal Gardner Mr. Peavy.

“The specific wording in our charter is to support the children of Texas, so that’s very important,” Peavy said. “What’s happening in Haven – the dynamics around COVID, the dynamics of the eviction moratorium, (this) culmination of things happening and how it affects children – (represents) an ultimate connection to our charter. “
